Hw many modes of winrunner is,Hw you interface with your team

8.Hw many modes of winrunner is?
a. 2 ,but i can't explained it.( 1.sensitive and analog)
Context sensitive and Analog
Context sensitive is for recording the script on GUI objects.... And Analog
for covering the mouse movements.

9.Hw you interface with your team?
a.with formal meetings, and review and also i interfaced with business
analyist
in one by one clarifications with requirements.
Being a senoir ,my involvement and interface is more in team.
My role has started early in test life cycle.
There was a knowlwedge transition from business analyst...and also,I use to
interface on site team for review and sign off of my test cases.
I use to take induction classes for the new joiners in my team..
and also use to interface project management duirng quality inspections.

Wht is defect density and hw you find,Hw can you expect the defects

6.Wht is defect density and hw you find?
a. no of defects found by no .of expected defects. i said
Defect density in no. pre delivered defects/ size of application.
Usually it will be covered at the end of iteration or the project .
In my current project .Project management use to do at end of each
iteration.

7.Hw can you expect the defects?
a. generall expected defects in the test plan.
Apart from following different specification techniques like boundary value
analysis , equivalence partitioning ,State transition...the most common
technique i am using is error guessing.
Since i have over 10 years of experience in quality side..detecting
errors..my experience comes to handy in either scripting test cases for good
coverage or defect finding during test execution.

Defect life cycle ,wht are the metrics you followed

a.explained and draw
Amswer as above ( Bug life cycle )...if were asked to draw.

5.wht are the metrics you followed?
a. Defect density , time, size, and etc
We use to cover both process and product metrics .
Process metrics like effort and schedule variance is covered my project
management.
But product metrics we use to fill .
Review defect density,Defect quality,Undocumented test cases and test

Latest Testcases in your project

Iam covering Loan product definition module in Iteration 2.
Of which functionality revolves around specifying different properties for
the loan product.General,Discount,Repayment,redemption.Discount
Our requirements are in UML.We use to see the model in Rational rose and
were writing test cases in client supplied template.
Infact Template was quiet sophisticated derived from Tmap approach..
We use to divide the functionality in to different test columns and was
recording the calls to back end and specifying logical and physical test
cases and then use to map the method calls.

wht are the test specifications in your project

According to requirements...we specify
Iam in system integration test team..where we use to check the functionality
on screens for its data entry ,Retrieval Navigation and business process.
Requirements are in form of use cases.
I use to specify test cases based on basic flow, Alternate flows and Business
rules specified in use case.

When testing will start,Explain abt bug life cycle

1.When testing will start?
a.After the test plan developed.
Typically testing starts later in cycle on released code..But now a a days
testing effort is been carried out early in software development cycle..
means fom the inception stage ( Design )

2.How you prioritize the severity?
a.Depends seriousness of the defect
Severity determines the serious ness of defects what ever rated high
and show stopper that will be attended first.
Medium and low will be prioritized later.

3.where you develop the TC?
a.In the excell
I used different test management tools in wititng test cases..In my earlier
project i was using Built in template of Test director in recording my test
cases but for my current project i was writing in Excel,a Client supplied
template and then storing in Test manager.

4.How many types of testing?
a.I said wrong....Manual and automation.
Basically there are two types of testing Static and dynamic..and based on
the tetsing attributes classiffied as white box testing and blackbox
testing.
which can be done at different level.
Unit testing,Integration esting,System testing,Regression testing.

5.Explain abt bug life cycle?
a.I explained the bug life cycle. ( Assuming you explained in this way..if
not do it in this way )
Bug lifecycle starts with openeing the defect with state as new..on agreed
status will change as open...After code fixes state will be changed to
fixed.
there will be retest on fixed defects and based on result either will be
closed or reopen.
Typically testers are only assigned to close the defects.

Introduce your self

Ex:-Iam consultant from Capgemini,a CMM 5 level company having around 4 years
of experience in Software Testing .
Both in manual and Automation.Primarily my experience is in Black box
testing covering the functionality testing at different levels.
I have experience in working with different process of development
RAD,Waterfall ,Iterative and RUP.
I have an good experience working with different domains. To start with i was
in enterprise management solutions. Then i was in to health care and right
now iam in to banking domain covering Loan and Mortgage process.
I have experience working with different configuration management
tools..likes of VSS,Rational clear case and with different test management
tools like Test director and Test manager.
Most of my testing revolves around Manual but i have good gauge of
Automation as well.

You should sound extremely confident and collect words. This is the only
question that leave impression on interviewer...your communication skills
will be rated by this answer...Rather than content.

what is test plan? And what are the contents?

Yes .. I was assist to prepare the testplan document...
It is a detailed document speak about all our testing events...and its gives the road map apporach for our testing activities
This document gives the over of the application , testing approach and scope of the testing
2. describes for each test entry criteria and exit criteria , resources and responbilitys and their communication activities
3. risk analysis and contingency plans
4. test environment set-up and configuration settings
5. test data set-up resources
6. database set-up resources
7. test automation over view
8. and also describes training schedules and testing deliverables....

15.What is exit and entry criteria?

1. Exit criteria: its describes when we can stop the testing
a. when our application meets customer requirements
b. There should not have any defects in acceptance level.
c. all necessary documents completed is up to date
d. 100% high ands medium severity bugs resolved
e. If deadline is comes
f. If budget is completed...
2. entry Criteria; Its detailed about us when we can start testing..
1. all requirements are ready there has no defects
2. Test data is verification and validated.
3. When build is ready....
4. test environment set-up is ready
5. all necessary documents is ready

What is Test harness

A test harness provides a simulated software environment t, and calls the system many times, with different data, and provides information to assist later on Actual testing.

what levels of testing you have done so far

Sofar i have been involved in Integration and system testing.
I involved in Functional testing of unit.Integration testing,System testing and also regression testing that comes in between.
Since no body is replying all..Iam facing difficulty in collating all the answers from every person..
Not a problem...This is only meant to give add on to your preparation.
